For teen boys and parents
Therapy is a place for teens to speak without feeling lectured. Parents are involved in a way that fits the teen's age, clinical needs, and applicable law. Your clinician will explain privacy, consent, and treatment planning clearly at the start, so everyone knows what is shared and what stays between the teen and their therapist.
Questions people ask
- What is men's counseling?
- Men's counseling is therapy focused on the pressures, expectations, and emotional patterns men commonly carry, including anger, stress, isolation, and difficulty naming feelings.
- Why is therapy harder for many men to start?
- Many men were taught that needing help is weakness and that emotions should be managed alone. The work here is direct and practical, which lowers that barrier.
- What issues do men most often bring to therapy?
- Anger and irritability, stress and burnout, anxiety, depression that shows up as numbness or withdrawal, relationship conflict, fatherhood, grief, and self-worth.
- Is anger a mental-health issue?
- Anger is a normal emotion, but chronic anger often signals underlying stress, hurt, fear, or unmet needs. Therapy works on what sits beneath the reaction.
- Do you work with teen boys?
- Yes. We have availability for teen boys alongside adult men. Ask during your consultation whether it is a fit.
- What if I do not know how to talk about feelings?
- That is a common starting point and not a barrier. Sessions often begin with situations and reactions rather than emotion labels.
- Will therapy tell me my masculinity is a problem?
- No. The work is not about becoming a different kind of man. It is about having more choices in how you respond and connect.
- Can therapy help my relationship or marriage?
- Yes. Individual work on communication, reactivity, and boundaries often shifts the relationship. Couples therapy is also available.
- Can therapy help with fatherhood?
- Yes. Parenting pressure, repeating or breaking family-of-origin patterns, and connecting with your children are frequent focuses.
- How long are men's counseling sessions?
- Sessions are approximately 55 minutes, scheduled by appointment.
- Is what I say confidential?
- Yes. Sessions are confidential with narrow legal exceptions such as risk of serious harm or abuse, explained at intake.
- Do I have to commit to long-term therapy?
- No. Some men come for focused, short-term work on a specific problem. Progress and length are reviewed with you.
- Are sessions online?
- Yes. Sessions are virtual for clients physically located in Texas, Colorado, or Missouri.
- Does insurance cover men's counseling?
- Coverage varies by clinician and plan. See Rates & Insurance and verify benefits with your insurer first.
- How do I start?
- Use the Start Here page or call the office. We match you with a clinician who works well with men and schedule a first session.
You don't have to carry it all alone.
