FAQ

You've got questions, we've got answers

We've compiled the questions and concerns we hear most often. If a topic isn't covered, call or email and we can answer everything during your consultation.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?+

Therapy can help if you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, stuck in unhealthy patterns, or struggling in relationships. Many people also work with us for personal growth, stress management, life transitions, or support during difficult periods. You do not have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy.

What happens in the first therapy session?+

Your first session focuses on getting to know you. Your therapist will ask about your background, current concerns, and what you hope to gain from therapy. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss goals so you and your therapist can begin creating a plan that supports your needs.

How long does therapy usually last?+

The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and the challenges you are facing. Some clients work with us for a few months on a specific issue, while others prefer longer-term support for ongoing growth.

How often will we meet for therapy?+

Most clients begin with weekly sessions. As progress is made, sessions may shift to bi-weekly or monthly depending on your needs and goals.

What services do you offer?+

We offer individual therapy, couples therapy, sexual wellness and intimacy support, trauma recovery, relationship coaching, life coaching, and clinical supervision for LPC Associates.

What is the difference between therapy and coaching?+

Therapy is clinical care provided by licensed clinicians and may address mental health conditions. Coaching is goal-focused, skills-based support that does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions, is not clinical care, and is not billed to insurance.

Do you offer online therapy?+

Yes. We offer secure telehealth sessions that allow you to meet from wherever you feel most comfortable using a confidential video platform.

Do you offer in-person sessions?+

We are currently a fully virtual practice. We do not maintain a public office location for client sessions.

Do you accept insurance?+

Yes, we work with several insurance plans including Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Ambetter, Aetna, Cigna and UMR. Coverage can vary depending on your specific plan and benefits, and we can help verify your benefits prior to your first appointment.

What if I want to pay out-of-pocket?+

Many clients choose private pay for flexibility or privacy. Individual therapy is $120 to $150 per session, couples therapy is $175 to $200 per session, and clinical supervision is $75 per session.

How do I get started?+

Use the Start Here page to tell us what you are looking for, or call 713-819-2660. We will help you identify the clinician and service that best match your needs.

How long are sessions?+

Standard sessions are approximately 55 minutes.

What is your cancellation policy?+

We ask that clients provide at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations or missed appointments are subject to a $75 fee.

Is therapy confidential?+

Yes. Sessions are private and confidential. There are a few legal exceptions, such as situations involving risk of harm to yourself or others, abuse reporting requirements, or court orders.
